One-Stop-Shop

At Helmsman Safety Services, we are aware that the Care Sector is under pressure financially and so every setting has to ensure that it is getting a good return from its training budget.

We offer value-for-money, professional training on a range of subjects which can be tailored for your own situation.

Our aim is to be a One-Stop-Shop for our Clients so that, even if we cannot deliver the training through our own trainerfs or Associates, because of our experience and knowledge within the industry, we always ‘know a man that does’ - and often it’s actually ‘a woman who does’!

Quality

Most of the courses are run by our own trainers or Associates but for some of the more specialised subjects, we have arrangements with partner providers who deliver the subjects for us.  Whether it is our own employees, or partners, we have a procedure under our ISO9001 Accreditation that means that anyone who comes under our banner, is quality checked and evaluated to ensure that the standards to which we aspire, are being met.

We don’t often receive complaints but if we do, we have a procedure that means that we investigate it as independently as possible, seeing it from the complainant’s point-of-view and we will resolve the situation quickly - even if it means losing a trainer, or it costing us money.  We believe that by sorting out a problem quickly and to everyone’s satisfaction, we retain Clients.

Advising on Training

Some of our Clients are not totally aware of what they should be doing, or more particularly, how they can save money on training without endangering their Registration.  Because we have been helping the Care sector for many years, we do know ways that training budgets can be maximised, perhaps with blended e-learning and practical courses combined.

We are happy to discuss your training plans at any time, with a view to seeing how we can assist you in making the most of your resources.

Grants

We are sometimes amazed (although we shouldn’t be) that organisations do not claim the Grants that are available to them.  As we have had ten years of experience in maximising Grant claims within the construction industry, we are now bringing this into play for our Care Sector Clients.  We will research from where you can obtain Grants and for those subjects where you can claim, we will set you up to be able to do this - simply!

Recently we ran a complete suite of Mandatory Training (Health & Safety, Food Hygiene, Fire Awareness, Moving & Handling and First Aid) for a care home with nearly 50 people and they have claims for Grant that will give them a ‘profit’ of over £2,000!  Prior to us being involved, they weren’t even aware that there was any money that they could claim.

Outsourcing

As well as organising all, or any, training for you, we also offer a service via Helmsman Services where, for the larger organisations, we can actually manage the administration of the whole function for you -and often at far lesser cost than employing a Training Manager or Department.
