1st June 2010 - It's our Birthday!  Award wining Helmsman services of Dugard House, Stanway celebrated their 10^th Birthday with a party for Clients and suppliers. Helmsman started their business through an association with local house builder, Countryside Properties who needed someone to run their training. It has grown to managing the training and development, industry grants claims, training plans etc for 12 construction companies, including many local businesses and has a thriving Health & Safety training and advisory service.

 Lindsey Willson, who started the business in 1998 and who joined forces with her husband Tony in 2000, to form Helmsman, said ‘It has been 10 years of ups and downs, starting the business when the last recession was just finishing, through to current times when we are right in the middle of economic woes. However, I look back and am proud of what we have achieved both from the point of the people who we have working for us, who are stars, to the awards that we have won’

 Helmsman started with one client and after 5 years, had enough to warrant starting its own training health and safety training business which is HSE Approved and is a CIEH Accredited Centre, as well as having gained ISO9008 status last year.

 The party was attended by 35 clients and suppliers, many of whom have been working with the company for years. One of the guests, David Boyden of Boyden’s Estate Agents said “Not only was it good to celebrate Helmsman’s birthday but it was also good to have the opportunity to put faces to names and meet the people behind the telephone voices’
