Meet the Helmsman Team
Helmsman Services was formed in 1997 and today the core team consists of:

Tony Willson, Managing Director
Tony is an energetic business professional and entrepreneur. He worked with international training specialists, Dale Carnegie Training, for 10 years and qualified as an instructor in most of their prestigious programmes. He is responsible for advising clients on 'people' related matters. He has helped many companies with their approach to training and development, Investors in People accreditation and people-related matters. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Sales and Marketing Management, a qualified Investors in People adviser and a Member of the Institute of Directors.

Lindsey Willson, Operations Director
Lindsey was an IT trainer with various companies for many years before starting Helmsman Services from a small office with one client. Lindsey developed our unique software package strictly for the purpose of administering all aspects of training, from receipt of the needs through to evaluation. This software system is integrated with industry grant schemes, such as those of the CITB/Construction Skills and Skills for Care, with which we assist clients in grant claims and applications.

Alex Eccles, Head of Training
Alex has been with Helmsman Safety Services from its inception and has two roles. He delivers training and is in demand from many of our clients because of his training skills. His second responsibility is to quality control both our courses and our Associate trainers. Alex comes from a background in sports centre and hotel management which brought him into health and safety training, which he has been involved in for over 10 years.
Every individual contributes specialist skills
Our staff and Associates consist of a range of consultants, trainers, speakers, strategic partners and suppliers covering every aspect of our business. Each consultant, trainer or training supplier that we use undergoes a strict vetting procedure, and every course is carefully evaluated to ensure that it meets the clients' needs.
Our office back-up is we feel, second to none, as accuracy, attention to detail and fulfilling a client's needs are paramount in our company. We have been praised for our flexibility, immediate response, complaint handling (although luckily this doesn't happen too often!) and friendliness and that is the way we want to be recognised - not just as another training company.
We also have Professional Indemnity Insurance up to £2 million, Public Liability up to £2 million and Employee Liability up to £10 million.
